Disgust

Also self explanatory.

Feel free to discuss.

  1. I heard this as a second hand rumor so I am not sure of it's validity but it may be something to look for as the season progresses.

After week 8 the Eagles long range QB intentions may become clearer. Bradford did not sing an extension earlier this year & after week 8 there are stipulations in his contract requiring the Eagles to give up the draft picks they traded for him as well as some other financial considerations.

If he is still the starter after week 8 it may suggest they view him as their long term starter, if he is not the starter after week 8 it may mean the Bradford experiment might be over & the Eagles will be looking elsewhere for their QB of the future.

Is that QB Sanchez? Could it possibly signal another opportunity for Tim either this year or next? Will they make a trade of some kind for another QB?

Of course Bradford could all of a sudden begin playing lights out making this all moot. We all know Shurmur had alot of input in the decision to go with Bradford & release Tim.

Question is will Chip after aquiring all the personnel decisions for the Eagles ride it out with Shurmur & Bradford or go in another direction.

This could all be a load of nonsense. I guess we will soon find out.

  2. Hey Bob. Hey, the 2nd hand rumor may come from some of the details reported by Schefter when the trade went down ...

Eagles Get: Bradford & 2015 5th Rd Pick
    Rams Get: Foles, 2015 4th Rd Pick & 2016 2nd Rd Pick
If Bradford does not play at all this year, Eagles get back a 2016 3rd Rd Pick (not an option at this point)
If Bradford starts less than 50% of this season's plays, Eagles get back a 2016 4th Rd Pick.

So, given Bradford's poor 'time of possession' this season, if he was benched after Week 8, there is a good chance the he would have started less than 50% of the plays this season, giving the Eagles another 2016 selection.

I could see this happening if Bradford doesn't get it in gear for more than a qtr or two per game.

Great to see a post again on Ed's Blog. Take care all. Ron.

    1. I thought that "rebate" provision was predicated on playing time lost due to injury; an insurance policy built into the trade to mitigate the risk of trading for a quarterback with a bucket of KFC drumsticks for legs and dry rubber bands where his ligaments should be. The Eagles can't just bench him because he sucks ass and then tell the Rams he's a lemon give us a pick back. At least that was my interpretation.

    2. As far as I know, there were no conditions placed on the playing time criteria. So I believe they could indeed bench him and then demand the Rams turn over the pick.

However, I do not believe that pick will factor into their decision to bench him or not. It's just a 4th round pick, and was probably just a bargaining chip to make both sides feel a little better about the deal.

    3. All of us are right. They get a 4th rounder if he doesn't start eight games; a 3rd rounder if he's reinjured.

  3. I just saw a clip on ESPN of Tim playing basketball at Alabama. Now I feel depressed. Eh.

    3. The sad part about it, I feel like he can't see that in his fans eyes (at least mine) it comes out as he's some kind of circus monkey. "Here Tim, shoot some mid court shots at Auburn, just imagine that ratings on that baby." *Another million falls into his bank account*

      FUCK.

      THAT.

    4. Joe, I wish you hadn't deleted your comments. I agree with them. I fear Tim may enjoy the celebrity spotlight a bit too much. He needs to be careful not to become Justin Bieber with muscles.

    5. I agree with that sentiment too, to a certain point. Tim has to walk a thin line between his celebrity & being overexposed. I am willing to give him the benefit of the doubt though for these reasons.

      1) When he has been focused on football, he has had no problem staying out of the spotlight.
      2) It's not his fault he has been shunned & his playing & leadership abilities demeaned.

I prefer him being Justin Bieber with muscles, than I do watching some of the awful play we are seeing on Sundays.

    6. No. Just no. NO. NOPE. NO WAY. NO.

He's a freak side show on a traveling ESPN bus, no more than a mascot of a conference in which he once playing in. He's a look good, talk nice goody buddy buddy, like narrative spiting assholes that killed his career because that's what their bosses told them to do. Be edgy on the Tim Tebow subject, take polar opposite sides in need of embracing debate.

IT MAKES ME SICK TO MY STOMACH. HE SHOULD BE RUNNING PEOPLE OVER, THROWING 40Y DARTS. ANYWHERE THEY LET HIM PLAY. NOT TALKING NICE ABOUT COLLEGE FOOTBALL.

      PERIOD.

  4. A momentary respite from shadenfreude: through 7 games, Tom Brady has thrown one interception. One. And that was a bobbled catch, eg not his fault. Just extraordinary.

The only player to hold a candle to him currently is Aaron Rogers. I watched him play a few weeks ago and the guy is a surgeon. Rogers is also a pretty good athlete and a wily runner, though he has to avoid the big hits because of his size.

Did anyone see where Ryan Mallet was cut by the Texans for missing the team plane to Miami? Poor kid, talented but clearly has some work ethic issues. Still, strange he survived under Belichick, who is notoriously strict. BB would have been a hell of an Army Command Sergeant Major.

    1. With their remaining schedule they have a legitimate chance of threatening the 1972 Dolphins undefeated record. Unless there is a huge upset, only the Jets & Dolphins at home in the last two weeks of the season have a chance to defeat them in the regular season. Gronkowski is an unbelievable player but Brady is making this happen without a deep threat wide reciever a patchwork offensive line & inconsistent running backs. Edelman is a tough competitor & I would want him on my team. Brady makes him look like Jerry Rice. They play the Eagles in Dec. & I hope Brady hangs 50 on them. :)

I really respect the Pats IMO they are the only team in the league that has tried to do right by TT. I hope they do go undefeated.

Mallett had been unhappy in Houston for quite a while. It will be interesting to see where he winds up next.

Prediction: Eagles finish the season 6&10. YIPPEEE

  6. Here's a nice write-up of Josh Freeman's career path and efforts to get back on an NFL roster via playing for the FXFL. Easy to root for the guy. I hope he gets a look soon.

    1. That article really illustrates how important the coach/quarterback partnership really is. If there is good chemistry between the coach & the quarterback everything changes. Freeman survived even thrived for that one year. The lack of chemistry between the coach & the QB probably did not exist so it was unsustained. This is not unlike what we are witnessing with Colin Kaepernick.

Another example of this very real Phenomena/intangible I can think among others is Kurt Warner. After his time in St. Louis was over he looked like he was floundering around for a few years before revitalizing his career in Arizona.

Some of the QB play is so bad it's hard to see how Freeman would not get another look.

    2. Hope he gets another chance ... right after Tim!

Not sure if anyone missed it, but TJ Yates was signed by the Texans to replace Mallet. He played with Houston for 3 years so he was known by the staff, though it was prior to the Bill O'Brien era. He was cut by the Falcons at the end of camp this year.

I think that situation illustrates Tim's last faint hope, and the reason why he has not quit outright. Most teams carry 3 or 4 QB's in the preseason and cut one at the end of camp. Those 32 free agents represent the primary pool of roster replacements this season, because they have the most recent experience and the most current game film to evaluate. It would be unusual and risky for a team to sign someone during the season who had not been in camp at all.

Tim, by virtue of being in a finite population, does have a tangible chance of getting added to a roster this year through injury or other misfortune. It really just comes down to math. Several have already been signed, so the pool is shrinking. At some point through the process of elimination he becomes the best choice, even to those not inclined to choose him.

    3. I neglected to mention practice squad QB's. Not every team carries one, and that population overlaps with the population of those cut on the last day of camp, but the principle remains the same.
